return value of external javacript function to html

i have a div with 4 checkboxes. if check box 1 is clicked it shows other div with 5 check boxes. if checkbox 1 in second div is clicked it shows other div with 2 check boxes. if checkbox2 is clicked in the 2nd div it shows the div with 2 check boxes. when the user clicks on the checkbox in the 3rd div i want to generate a alert box with the title of the check box clicked in the 2nd and 3rd div. please help me with a way to do this. divs are properly been displayed but i am not able to get the text of the check box clicked.
