How to get span lines in checkbox to disappear when scatter plot range is changed (bokeh)?

I have a bokeh scatter plot which also has vline span lines on it (these vlines represent events on certain dates, which show up at the appropriate dates on the x-axis of the scatter plot). When I zoom in with the wheel zoom on the x-axis, I need the checkbox on the right (which is the vline legend) to update to only display the vlines for the new date range seen on the scatter plot. Is this possible? Thank you.
