JQGrid MultiSelect: true, use only checkboxes for selection and deselection

What is the best way in JQGrid with multiselect enabled to require the user to only select or deselect via the checkboxes. In other words, we find the row highlighting feature useful, however, users need to copy information from these cells as part of their workflow. When a user selects a few checkboxes and then tries to copy information from another row, all previous checkboxes are deselected. We would like to limit the selecting of rows to only the checkboxes and not clicking within the rows.

The multiboxonly option is not the feature we are looking for. While that feature limits multi selection to the checkboxes only, a user can click on a row and reset their entire selection. We would like to not have a reset function at all if possible.
