Read/Write Checkbox value of word document in java poi

How to read and write checkbox values in java preferably using apache poi? OR How do we read a bookmark value, like adding a bookmark to checkbox and then reading the bookmark value? I am using XWPFDocument class to read docx file type and would like to set or create a checkbox in document and control its check/uncheck.
