How to change checkbox value with AutoItX 3?

I am working on a script that needs to change the value of Win32's Checkbox control using AutoItX 3 (the DLL/COM library of AutoIt3.)

This seems to be a common problem with the checkbox value in AutoIt, and this answer seems to have a solution for .au3 scripts, but I need a solution that works with AutoItX.

Do you have any suggestions?
