PagedList in View Model

I've got a pagedlist in a view model. I want to bind a field on the pagedlist to a checkbox in a view and when the form in the view is submitted, send the view model back to the controller and access the pagedlist to see which items have the checkbox checked. Is that possible? At the moment the pagedlist is always null in the returned view model.
