search filter using checkbox in spring mvc

what is the logic behind the search in following image-i have to build the similar one? There are different heading and each heading contains it associated values with checkbox. An end user can select one or more checkboxes from the same and/or different heading. I am using spring mvc and hibernate. filter search image extract from bestbuy.com
