ARIA implementation for checkbox in datagrid or JQGrid

I have JQGrid whicg has checkbox as column using formatter of JQGrid . JAWS or screen reader is not reciting the checkbox checked/unchecked event on SPACE BAR / keyboard click. Can anyone help with this.
