how to display 1 and 0 in checkbox from table using PHP

I have message MySQL table in which I have added one column "readed" along with the message attributes for to get the status of read or not?? If I want to separate responded and responded message by using checkbox. what to do??? Means simply retrieve the 1 and 0 from "readed" column and display them in checkbox !!
