How to generate a dropdown with checkboxes only using javascript

As the titel says; is there a possibility to generate and populate a dropdown with checkboxes, using only javascript and an array to fill the dropdown?

I have only seen javascript code that generates only a dropdown.

It would be awesome if someone could help me with my issue, and would guide me to solve my problem :)
