How do I add parameters to my current URL by checking HTML checkboxes

For example, Say I have a PHP page displaying different post categories(music,religion,politics,...) So I want to dynamically change my URL parameters from

localhost/posts

page to

posts.php?category=music,movies,drawing

everytime a user checks or unchecks a category using PHP,JAVASCRIPT,JQUERY,CSS or something.Thank you,
