Access 2016 checkbox not printing on HP printer

We were upgraded to Windows 10 and Office 2016 last November. I spent some time trying to resolve this issue to no avail.

We have some Access reports that have check boxes with check marks. The check marks are not printing correctly to HP printers. We can send the same report to other (non HP) printers and they print correctly. Also, if we export the report to Adobe and then print to the HP printer, it prints correctly. The check mark in a box symbol from Word also prints correctly.

We have updated the drivers and firmware from HP, but it did not fix the issue.

I posted this same question to HP in January but got no response.

I have included an image of what the incorrect printing looks like.

Anybody else having this problem? Any suggestions to resolve?
