Enable contextual action bar for custom listview

I need to implement contextual action bar for a custom listview when a checkbox from listview row is checked. I have searched a lot for this but every tutorial & example make use of Action Bar Sherlock library however i need to implement it without using ABS as i am developing for 3.0+ versions. Also my listview is the content of a fragment & extends ListFragment. I have tried using MultiChoiceModeListener for listview but it doesn't worked for me. Any help would be appreciated.
