can checkbox arrays be posted more than once - php

I have checkboxes and when a submit button is clicked they are posted sueding $_post and a query is ran using the value posted. I want to be able to click another button and have the first query saved into another table but the values from the first checkboxes will not post and i get an Undefined index message. I have tried using sessions and still get the same message.
