How to return checkbox values to another macro

I have a macro where at present I am using an inputbox to get a month to be used in a path to get to a folder. I have been trying to use a userform with checkboxs (one for each month) to do this and I don't understand how or where to put the code to get what has been checked. I have tried userform.show. I get to the form and check the box and it never comes back to my macro. I tied to use a case statement on the userform but again don't know how to refer to the original macro or if that is even the right place for that statement. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks
