interact with checkbox on excel spread python 2.7

I have a pre-formatted Excel spreadsheet that contains several check box items. I would like to write a script that can interact with the document and check or un-check certain boxs, does anyone know of a module or method which I can use to interact with these check box's? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
